People are our most powerful natural resource.
We recognize that people are the backbone of our business, from our drilling sites to our trade room to our boardroom — and we have the best in the industry.
Building a performance culture.
We are proud to have one of the lowest attrition rates in the industry. That is in part because of the talent we select and the culture we build. Southwestern Energy fosters an environment where employees are encouraged to express themselves and where leadership is expected to listen.

Talent Acquisition & Development
In addition to hiring locally to support economic growth in our areas of operation, we work to retain employees through our development program that was expanded in 2021. Our employees remain engaged, as indicated by our biannual employee survey, which averaged 90% participation — well above the industry’s norm.
Diversity & Inclusion (D&I)
In 2021 we continued to develop our D&I strategy, including training with officers, finalizing a strategic roadmap and enhancing analytics of employee demographics. We also expanded efforts to attract diverse candidates, partnering with organizations focused on recruiting talent with diverse backgrounds.
ONE Team Culture
Our ONE Team culture supports an operating philosophy that everyone who works on behalf of Southwestern Energy — whether employee or contractor — must work together to meet goals, such as achieving as ONE to Get to Zero incidents. In 2021, we expanded training linked to our ONE culture.
We maintain stringent requirements and processes for selecting, training and evaluating contractors. With the influx of contractors introduced through our recent acquisitions, we worked diligently in 2021 to evaluate and train them. We also rolled out several new programs and policies to increase safety for contractors.
